A well designed investigation begins with a good question that an investigator can test and measure the results. The results are the dependent variable.  The conditions being tested are the independent variable. When you plan your own investigation, make sure you are only testing one independent variable at a time.  You will also need to have a good sample size to make sure your results are valid.
